DacEasy is good accounting software with all the basic sections: Accounts Receivable, and Payable, Inventory, and Payroll. DacEasy has a few additional sections called Order Entry and Point of Sale. But there is not a section for Time Tracking or Fixed Assets in DacEasy.
This program is easy to use. The middle of the screen allows you to navigate from section to section. At first we skipped right over that part of the program because the toolbars stand out more than the text-based section in the center, but as soon as we ran the mouse over the center text and found links to different parts of the program there, navigation became easier. You can opt to have as many or as few of the tool bars visible as you like.
On toolbars, we had to run the cursor across each icon to see its purpose; we felt this was inconvenient. Understanding toolbar icons at a glance would be possible if DacEasy included small descriptions permanently on each icon.
When we clicked on links to perform payroll and inventory tasks, we received several errors. We eventually figured these out, but for a novice this would be frustrating and confusing.
The Help Section is excellent. A built-in search tool helps you find the right place in the index quickly. The help menu at the top of each screen is intuitive and has several options available in context.
This section is called Customers and can be found in the main part of the program. Sub-categories include: Order Entry, Invoicing, Point of Sale, Banking, Forms, and Periodic.
We looked through the entire section but couldn't find a way to email invoices or create estimates for items to be shipped. But you can make invoices, manage customer lists, and create backorders. This section has six different reports available.
You can find Accounts Payable tools under the Vendor section of DacEasy. A few subcategories include: Vendors, Purchasing, Banking, Forms, and Periodic.
Features we couldn't find include the ability to customize purchase orders, quotes and vendor checks. But you can make basic purchase orders and quotes, print checks, and manage vendors. The option to print off the 1099 tax form (capital gains) is only available in this section, under the year-end subcategory.
Payroll subcategories include: Employees, Management, Tax Deposit, Month, Quarter, and Year-End. With these tools you can manage payroll, enter time tracking accounts, and set up direct deposits for your employees. There are eight different reports available.
There are several subcategories for the Inventory Section in DacEasy, including: Inventory, Reports, Assembly, Corrections, and Periodic. Inventory allows you to update products and services, track items by number, adjust inventory, and group items for assemblies. However, this section doesn't specify a stocking location (such as a warehouse) and doesn't allow you to add descriptions for items. There are eleven reports available.
You can reconcile bank accounts, prepare deposits, make payments, print and void checks and allocate time slips. Five reports are also available within this section.
DacEasy doesn't offer a Time Billing Section, but you can enter time billing data into the Payroll Section, and a one-time billing report is available.

The General Ledger lets you import items directly and the program adds recurring entries for you.
Under the Periodic Section of the General Ledger you can specify the period end, the year end, and specify the General Ledger budget. This section can print the trial balance, balance sheet, cash flow, and any other type of General Ledger activity (as well as seven reports).

DacEasy is good accounting software. This program could meet the accounting needs of a small business that doesn't need job costing tools.
